Welcome to Swaledale Class
Swaledale Class (Year One and Year Two) is taught by Mrs Greenup from Tuesday to Friday and Miss Strange on Mondays and Wednesday afternoons. Mrs Billington will also be teaching music. The class is supported by Senior Teaching Assistants Anthea and Maria.
As the children move through into the Swaledale class, our school vision ‘We love to learn, we learn to love’ is further embedded as the children enjoy lessons from all of the National Curriculum subjects. Mornings see us learning to read and write using the Read, Write, Inc reading and spelling programmes and developing our maths skills with Tiny and his friends from White Rose Maths. In the afternoons we love finding out about different people, places and events in History and Geography and the world around us in Science. We love to take our learning outside wherever possible, especially enjoying our Muddy Monday sessions and a wealth of trips and visits in the local area. There is still time to play too, with a whole host of continuous provision activities to take part in between lessons. We love being creative, moving around and joining in with all activities and our days wouldn’t be complete without plenty of stories.
The children in Swaledale class want their class to be ‘a happy place where people are good friends and always try their best’ and as soon as you walk in the door you will see that is true.
