This area of the site is to recognise sporting achievements by our children. We are proud of their efforts, their sporting behaviours and of the way they represent the school. They frequently achieve success even when competing against much larger schools.
January 26th 2012- The Rawthey Run - Sedbergh
On Thursday 26th of January a team of five girls and five boys went across
to Sedbergh school to do the Rawthey run. It was cold, wet, muddy, freezing and not to mention great fun!
Once we had arrived we went into a hall to put our numbers on our t-shirts. When we went back outside it started to rain and hail so, once everyone had been to the toilet, we sheltered under a gazebo. The rain stopped almost instantly so everyone walked round the course. Almost as soon as we got back from walking the course we had to take of our trackies and our warm, cosy jumpers. It was time for the race!
We were off! People sprinted in front of us and there was a lot of barging but soon enough the race was over although it felt like we had been running for hours.
Soon afterwards the other half the boys started their race. Everyone got brilliant places and did really well.
It was freezing!
Once we had finished we went to get something to eat. We went up to the café and had pasta and chicken. In the toilets we were warming up our hands with the hot water. We went home with a cake and a feeling of success!

We went to the South Lakes District Cross Country Championship which was held at Windermere Preparatory School this year (Not to be confused with the Elleray Cross Country which happens every year in March) The girls did amazingly well - Amy came 4th, Robyn 5th, Anna 25th & Indigo 48th. Amy and Robyn now go to the County Cross Country Championship in January. The team were 2nd overall!!!! They were beaten into first by Ghyllside school but there were about 30 schools taking part so it was an amazing achievement!
Staveley School Wins Again!!!
On the 10th of November 2010 Staveley school went to the Lakes school to go cross country running. We were all really excited and looking forward to seeing what places we were going to come. We were running 1 kilometre and competing against 5 other schools which where St Cuthbert’s, Windermere junior, Windermere prep school, Goodly dale and Ambleside. We started off going into the changing rooms at the Lakes and getting into our shorts and jumpers. All of us were very, very cold out there and wanted to get on with the race. Mrs Roberts told us the course of the race which sounded easy! The girls were going to be running first and boys second.I was really enjoying the race and still jogging very well, I warmed up quickly and then started to go through the wet mucky bog (I was lucky enough not to get covered in the mud but I know some people who did.) Then it was the small hill which was quite easy but took away more of my energy. By this time I had bad stitch and seriously wanted a drink. I was on the last stretch of the race and was now running a bit faster (not sprinting.) I could see the finish line and wanted to be there! My team mates were cheering me on and giving me lots of support. I felt better now and was sprinting to the finish line. I was running through the finish line and had finished!!! YES! I got the and it said I had come 27 which I was very pleased with and was excited to go and see what places my team mates came. Robyn.B had come 1st out of the whole race and Amy.W came 2nd which was a great achievement for both of them. The boys then ran round the track which was a brilliant race too! People that we didn’t know came first and second and then Hal.V came 3rd.Soon came the results and Robyn, Amy and Hal got a medal which was very nice and they defiantly deserved it. Then it was on to the proper results and everyone was looking forward to seeing which team had won the whole race. It was so tense. “And the winner is ... STAVELEY SCHOOL!!! Yes, Staveley School had won again!!!
